Can I monitor via built in audio using Presonus Firebox in Logic Pro 7?

New to the forum and apologies if this is answered already.

I installed a Presonus Firebox but am unable to monitor output using built in audio

• Self powered speakers are connected to the G5 audio output jack and working w/other application such as iTunes

• Firebox is connected to G5 using the front Firewire port

• The synch light on the Firebox is blue indicating proper connection and synchronization with the G5

• Core Audio enabled in Logic Pro 7.0.1 preferences

• Have experimented with "Sofware Monitoring" (on and off) and see my level meters reacting to both microphone and 1/4" guitar input but no output to speakers!

• Apple System Preferences Sound <Input> is set to "Firebox" & <Output> is Line Out - Built-in Audio

I can monitor by connecting speakers or headphones to headphone output on the Firebox but have an unacceptable latency and in any case don't wish to monitor this way - Presonus tech support closed on the weekends and I need to work today.

Any help is highly appreciated!

regards -

You can create an Aggregate Audio Device (this combines the ins/outs of your Firebox and built-in audio into one device).

Open Audio/MIDI Set Up in your Utlities folder, click Audio Devices, go to Open Aggregate Device Editor from the Audio menu (menubar) and add both your devices. That should do it. Then in Logic select your new aggregate device.

You have to go into Audio/Midi Setup in your Applications/Utilities folder. Select the Audio Devices tab, go up to the Audio menu, then Open Aggregate Device Editor. Click the plus to create a new aggregate device, select both built in audio and the firebox in the section below. Then in Logic, go into the Audio Driver section and select aggregate device as your audio driver. That's it!

OK I've done all that but when I choose the aggregate device in Logic I can monitor the song but not my instrument (track is rec enabled) - I've now lost input level. If I go back and reselect the Firebox in Logic I get my headphones back and input level but lose the ability to monitor on my speakers. Seems I can have one or the other but not both.

Do I select aggregate device in Apple pref in both input and output?
