After iOS 4.2.1 YouTube html5 videos don't play from youtube.com in Safari

Before update I was able to watch YouTube videos in YouTube's html5 player right from different websites, now I can't watch html5 embeded youtub videos anymore. One of such websites is: http://www.brigita.info/html5/video/video-posnetki.html (Played YouTube videos perfect before iOS 4.2.1 update on iPhone and on iPad. After update, html5 youtube videos don't play anymore.) I posted the same issue on YouTube's support forums.

It really seem to be a small bug on safari, because using another browser called: AARDE Lite, YouTube desktop site in HTML5 are still working, so I hope apple software engineers see this post and fix it.

If anyone wants to test if their iPad is playing YouTube desktop site videos in HTML5, first go to: www.YouTube.com/html5 and then tap on "Join the HTML5 beta test" then try to watch 3 videos and let me know if you could play then. One of the reason I prefer the desktop YouTube site is because I able to respond to specific comments.

Seems like it's how is was designed to be. It seems that behavior is to keep you from spending too much data under 3G connections. My 3G connection is unlimited and I spend about 1GB a day, but I'm tethering to a tmobile phone. Before I noticed that when I load YouTube using 3G connections, it would load just a few thumb pic, then with a regular wifi it would load 3 X more. So.... It's speculation. And also I must try my problem using a regular wifi connection which I don't have at the moment.

Having the same issue here. iPad with 4.2.1, using both Atomic Browser and iCab browsers. Both set up using Safari(osx) as browser ID.

The desktop version of Youtube worked (and still works on my other iPad using ios 3) when the youtube html5 video opt in has been activated. Note to those who want to try this: only videos without ads currently work in html5, others will return an "install flash error", and I have yet to find a why to filter youtube searches to exclude those.

After the upgrade to 4.2.1 the html5 video player loads but the spinning loading wheel just keeps on turning.

I have found a sub-optimal solution, which I think shows that this is a ios 4.2.1 html5 video player bug: while the wheel is spinning, click on the button labeled "normal" and click the menu option "normal". The video immediately starts to play.

Given Apple's push to move all web video to html5, and the absence of real alternatives on ios, I hope this gets fixed soon.

This was apparently a problem with the web site since these videos all work properly now.
