This movie cannot be played on this machine

I recently bought Hamlet from itunes. It's a 4 hour long movie (taking an English class), so it took a loooong time to download. This morning I started watching it, but then I put my laptop to sleep, and it later shut itself down due to running out of battery power. Now every time I try to play it, it gives me the error message "This movie cannot be played on this machine". I've authorized my computer to play downloads, so that shouldn't be the problem. Can someone help me out with this, and if this movie is indeed unplayable, is there a way I can be refunded for my purchase?

I have the same problem! I decided to download and watch a movie tonight. It was my first time purchasing a movie on itunes. After the download was complete, I played the movie. It worked just fine for for about 10 mins and then it froze. I closed itunes and opened it again and the movie was GONE. I searched for it on my computer and it did reappear on itunes; however, now when I play it gives me an error message saying that "This movie cannot be played on this machine". The telephone suport desk is closed for the night and I found no help whatsoever on the website. My evening plans got ruined, thanks to itunes! My first experience downloading a movie through itunes was a big FAILURE! So disappointed!

I have had the same issue - I was able to fix it by going to the Store tab then down to available downloads. I redownloaded it and my movie works great.
I also emailed Apple and this is the response I got - I hope it helps!!!
