German Umlaute on Ipad Keyboard IOS 4.2.1.

After Updating my Ipad I realized, that the way of choosing a German Umlaut i.e. "ü" has changed. I have hoped very much that with the somehow unified IOS setting the keyboard to Germany German would bring the former Ipad version of choosing an umlaut to my iphone 4 as well.

But it is now just the other way around and typing german texts on the Ipad is worse.

Of course it was a hard piece of work for you apple people to bring IOS4 to the Ipad but I would prefer to use the old version.

Apart from reading with the lost hardkey for locking the screen the change for writing in german is a kind of k.o. criterium.

Any possiblity to roll back to the former OS?

Beate

I'll second that - the way 3.2.2 handled the Umlauts was so intuitive that I found myself pressing A on a regular Mac-Keyboard, waiting for the Ä to come :-D.

The best solution, really, would be to have ÄÖÜ ß and other special Characters available at least in the landscape keyboard - it's big enough to handle a few characters more and it would dramatically speed up my typing, as the rest of the keyboard handles almost as good as a physical keyboard.

But the second-to-best would be to have the 3.2.2 way of handling special Characters come to iPad and iPhone in 4.2.2 - it was much better than the solution we have now.

On the other hand, isn't it great when small stuff like this is the biggest complain we have after such a major upgrade?

Hi,

my name is René, and I'm german. So I use the german keyboard layout for my iPhone. But now, I'm not able to write my name anymore, because there is no "é" there in the german keyboard layout. So, when I want to write my name, I have to switch to another keyboard layout. Sorry, that's a bug for me !!!

Please fix that !!!!

Regards

René (not sent from my iPhone)
