I had a similar problem and tried all of the solutions presented. What worked for me was to run iTunes in a compatibility mode. Right click the iTunes icon and select properties. Click on the compatibility tab, under display settings, check "Disable visual themes" You will get a window pop-up when loading iTunes requesting that iTunes should not be run in this mode, but hit ok and iTunes should load up.

Hi Had the same problem. Bloody annoying.
Anyway finally fixed it by copy all missing .dll files from someone else who had loaded ITUNES.
Luckily my girlfriend had the files and i just copied the missing files into the same directory. By comparing what she had and what i had.
If this does not work tryto overwrite the Mediatoolbox.dll file.
Then i tried Itunes and it worked again.
Files can be found in.
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
Then just copy and paste missing .dll files into this location.
Hope this helps anyone.
