My system is Windows Xp, and after updating itunes it comes a dialog window saying:
Windows is searching for iTunes.exe. To locate

I had the same issue and followed a link to this forum. The repair option worked well for me so thank you - but I was absolutely appalled by the manner in which the volunteers responded naylet. You may only be volunteers but you still represent a company and you really should be mindful to customer service practice. I do note that some comments have been edited so may be I don't have the true picture, but just be aware naylet merely stated he did not want to repeat information he had already given. It really should not have escalated to this level giving a very poor impression to others who come here with the same issue. I hope naylet has taken this further and complained to Apple about the volunteers involved here.

That's unusual. If iTunes.exe is missing, iTunes would normally do a repair install of itself when you tried to launch it.

If it's not doing that for you automatically, perhaps let's just try doing it ourselves.

Open your Add or Remove Programs control panel. Select iTunes, click "Change" and then click "Repair".

Does the repair install go through okay? If so, are you able to launch iTunes now?

iTunes.exe, and after trying to repair, it seems iTunes.msi is also missing.

I'm a capable person with computers, and I know exactly what I've been doing. It just seem that the new upgrade is not working at all.

What it would be the best and easy way to solve this? uninstalling the application and installing it back? I really dont't want to expend time explaining everything over and over.

I updated the software and the exe file somehow is missing, it doesn't seem able to repair it and to be honest I just made a system restore and it seems that this upgrade has mess up just everything, it doesn't want to get back to my previous itunes.

Don't want to put you through that if it's upsetting you, and it's not precisely clear from the symptoms to date what the nature of your underlying problem is, so troubleshooting would involve asking you more questions. So I'll leave you in peace. Good luck with your troubleshooting efforts.

I think you are misunderstanding who you are talking to. As was stated in the Terms of Use to which we all agreed, Apple does not provide technical support in these forums. B Noir is just a fellow user, volunteering his time to try and help you, and not an Apple employee. Since you refused to work with him, he's apparently bowing out from further help, something for which I don't blame him given your attitude.

If you would like BN to try to help further, I'd suggest you apologize for being rude and ask nicely if he'll try to help further and then answer whatever questions he asks without complaint; he doesn't ask for information he doesn't need. Otherwise, you can hope that someone else here will volunteer to take over, or you can call Apple tech support.

Lots of folks are under the misconception that this is apple tech support.
No. Apple doesn't provide free tech support for troubleshooting installation of a free program on hardware they don't even sell.

Since you are new, you had no idea that you were insulting the #1 top installation volunteer on the windows forum, b noir!

Best of luck getting it sorted.

Since you just bought an ipod, you should have at least one free call to apple. They are still not going to help you with installing itunes very much. The first reply will be canned and the next ones will tell you to reinstall itunes. So I am not really recommending you go there, but it's available.

The thing is, whether it is on these forums or with an apple employee, they would still have to ask questions, as no one knows what you've already done or what exact error messages you've seen.

About that "network resource not available" message, can you tell us if this is a work PC? Sometimes folks have had trouble installing itunes when they are gone from the corporate network.
