To avoid conflicts that can cause problems like yours, I use few third-party add-ons on my system. Even so, I have had so much problem with YMM over the years that I have quit installing YMM - even to test it. From what I have seen posted, the new versions are better with Mac, but YMM still seems to work for some users while causing lots of trouble and wasted time for others who unsuccessfully try to make it work with their systems.
If you MUST use YMM after unsuccessfully searching YM Help, you may find better suggestions by using the "
Contact Yahoo!" link there or by searching or posting in the dedicated Yahoo! "Answers" forums like the results found by this search:

If you do not get the help you need here, and if you cannot find another way to get YMM working, switch to a different chat app like iChat, Skype, or one of the web-based sites like mebeam or tokbox.
