I turned on remote login in sharing in system preferences, turned it off but now the binoculars are still in the menu bar. How can I remove the binoculars?
remote login and apple remote desktop are two different things.
remote login is for ssh.
ARD is for administrative control and observing your computer from another mac.
if you only turn off the menu icon for ARD, it can still be running and someone could observe what you are doing without you knowing. i'd recommend leaving the menu icon on if ARD is running so you know if you're being watched or not... such as in a work environment. if you don't want ARD to be on, you'll need to turn it off from File Sharing.
