IOS 4.2.1 battery drain

Anyone noticed any battery drain so far on IOS 4.2.1?

Here is my observation:

With my existing apps, I've upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2.1, and started facing the battery issues, I'd get it charged at 7:00am @ %100 and around 4pm, it is over to %5 and the device gets really hot. I tried turning down any wifi, push, facebook notifications etc... and none of them helped.

and now I've just did a clean restore and nothing on the iphone, as if fresh from box, and I don't have a battery issue. But once I again synch and restore all apps, and pics etc... same problem is back...

I'm suspicious that, one of the applications that we use commonly (facebook etc...) is not really working well with 4.2.1 and getting the battery down drastically.

I'll try to experiment and put my apps one by one to see any effects on it.

but this issue wasn't there with 4.1 at all... it was working great.

wanted to share my current experience.

That's a good possibility. As I haven't seen many compatibility updates to 4.2.1 for the current apps I'm using. I'm sure these will be forthcoming, just a matter of time.

For you. But there were people who had the same problem with 4.1, with 4.0, with 3.1.3, etc. all the way back to 2.0 three years ago.

Facebook has been a known source of battery drain in the past. In my experience the most common cause is a corrupted Push email account. I've fixed this problem in prior releases by either turning off or deleting my Push account, rebooting, and adding it back. I didn't have a problem with 4.2.1, however. Other apps that drain the battery include Skype, Dataman, the various Twitter clients, Yahoo Messenger and Game Center. And of course streaming apps, but that is not a surprise.

Read this one Lawrence. http://www.thestreet.com/story/10688816/apples-fault-not-att-for-iphone-ills.htm l

an excerpt: +...in an effort to lower power consumption, Apple designed the iPhone to stay in touch with the network through heavy bursts of signaling traffic rather than keep a radio channel open constantly (keeping the channel open drains the battery). The iPhone effectively caused signaling congestion problems like dropped calls and poor connection quality...+

That article says the update REDUCES network traffic. How does that map to decreased battery life?
