Video fails to Import

I was able to import a portion of the video I'm working on for a project last week, but when I tried to import the remaining video it goes through the importing process but for some reason the imported video fails to show up in iMovie and when I manually try to open any of the recently imported video I receive and error message for any of the newly imported video.
