Right-click not working on trackpad

Hello! Yesterday, my Macbook didn't start up properly after falling asleep (not sure why), so I manually shut it off. After it restarted, I noticed that the two-fingered right click wasn't working properly. I can still scroll with two fingers, and I can right-click if I use a mouse. But the trackpad two-fingered click doesn't work.

I've restarted my computer twice, and I've tried turning the two-fingered right click setting on and off in System Preferences. Do you have any advice or suggestions? Thanks!

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Had the same issue and it was driving me crazy. Enabling/Disabling Secondary Tap under the Two Fingers section in trackpad preferences had no effect. First clue was in this thread earlier when I saw somone saying tapping wasn't working but actually pressing down hard gave the desired result. Voila, same w/ me. So, I went back to preferences and I noticed that, somehow, under the One Finger section the Tap to Click box was unchecked. No clue how that happened as I use this hundreds of times daily, at least, and immediatly noticed when it broke/changed. Checked that box and all is well.

Got the same problem that right-click on won't. Tried system preference and other methods suggested but all failed. Finaly I tried to shut down the system completely instead of just restart it. It works. I got my right-click on my trackpad right where I want it. So in my case, the trick is to shut down (turn the computer off completely) and turn it back on after 5 seconds. Restart is different from turn off and thrn turn it back on. Hope this will help.

I'm having the same problem. Right click or entire right side of touchpad not working.

I got excited about your "fix" but there's no post or image that I can see or find. 😟

I know it's an old thread, but judging from the responses to your post, there was a time your fix was visible and worked.

Could you please post again or contact me with the information? I'm just about brain dead after searching so long, the prospect of it working again has given me hope.

Thank you,

Lisa

I had this same problem but i found a solution on another forum! v v v v

Ok so, this might sound completely irrelevant, but try turning off your bluetooth. It worked for me and everything was normal after that. I don't even have a bluetooth mouse or anything connected to apple that it might have connected with, but this totally worked and i'm so happy! I thought i would share it, even though this is an old thread! Best of luck!
