I am having the same problem. Only in Finder.. only on highlighted files. This is a feature I use regularly. Any help out there?
I have found the "command O" for opening multiple files at once, but what a pain!
I am not super computer literate and love that you all have so much knowledge. I will keep checking back, hoping for an answer!
I had the very same problem Tiktoc and bereanboarder had:
This weekend, the 2 finger tap stopped working in the finder. It works in other applications just fine.
It's been a couple of weeks since I've installed any updates.
I DID install Google Drive over the weekend - I wonder if that's what broke it?
Confirmed - it's Google Drive.
When Google Drive is running:
Putting the Finder in the background and then pulling it to the foreground breaks 2-finger tap.
If I quit Google Drive and restart Finder, I can freely put the Finder in the background and then pull it to the foreground, and 2-finger tap continues to work properly.
If I re-launch Google Drive, the next time I background-foreground the Finder, 2-finger tap is broken again.
... And it's listed on Google Drive's bug page as a known issue:
A workaround is listed, and the workaround worked for me (albeit at the expense of losing visual status into Google Drive file sync status).
The workaround entails turning off a feature of Google Drive that does "live" switching of your icons to show your file sync status.
My bet is that if you have any kind of application that mucks with your Finder icons like Google Drive does, you increase your chances of encountering this 2-finger click problem.
Got the same problem that right-click on won't. Tried system preference and other methods suggested but all failed. Finaly I tried to shut down the system completely instead of just restart it. It works. I got my right-click on my trackpad right where I want it. So in my case, the trick is to shut down (turn the computer off completely) and turn it back on after 5 seconds. Restart is different from turn off and thrn turn it back on. Hope this will help.
I recently got myself a Macbook Pro 8,1 with a fresh Mavericks 9.1, & after exploring this new Mavericks for a bit I realized that my MB's trackpad right-click button wasn't doing what it does on my MB 7,1 – bring up context menus. After going to Obvious Place #1 thru Obvious Place #7 or so, I was dumbfounded as to HOW to get my MB's goll-danged trackpad right-click button to work & bring up context menus in Mavericks. I KNEW it was possible, but..... ugghh...
I read several of the "here's how to fix it" articles in Google hits, & then in posts here, tried about 3 of these here but none of them got my MB's trackpad right button to work the way I wanted it to.
So I gave up on poring through all these posts for other people's "should fix it's" & went back to just dinkin' around with my Mac's Preferences & so forth.
And then... TA DA! Found it.
Real simple, guys & gals....
You who haven't found "the fix" yet are gonna kick yer hineys hehe (I'm sure that somebody's already posted the "fix" somewhere in these 4 or so pages of posts).
I'm not going to continue reading through all the posts here until I find this DUH! no-brainer "fix" (which it's not, really. it's just the way it's 'sposed to be done), so I'm just going to post this along with a screenshot I took showing where ya go & what ya do to get your trackpad's right-click button to work as the contextual click button, which oughta pretty much end any more questions from anyone here about how ya do it, at least from those with Mavericks.
So all's well, life's good.
Well, most of the time....
Sunny & it's finally kinda warm in Denver today. That's sure good.
And I got a a couplea classy Macbooks in front of me & not a Windoze Frankenstein machine..... And that's REAL good.

Looking for the simple solutions first is a good habit to get into.
Like... Is it even plugged in??
Hey Shoshi... I've been stuck at 85 points for a long long time, despite many people telling me in these posts that my info has helped 'em out. Any chance you could help me get above a hundred, will ya pretty please? THX! KK
i'm still having this issue, and none of the overly simple solutions helped. i shut it off and checked my trackpad preferences (again) and it's still not working. i can get the menu to show up if i move it from bottom right to bottom left click, but that's not what i want.
can anyone please help?
and i don't have google drive.
