The Apple Looping Utility is simply just a tool that allows you to apply metadata to your loops so they can be transposed and time-stretched properly by Garageband. Not sure why you are mentioning it in the post. Perhaps you're confusing it with the loop browser in Garageband?

As for your loops, you can reinstall the content disc to get the Apple content back. This will not remove your existing songs but it is a good idea to back them up. Just do a search for all songs ending in .band and copy and paste them into a new folder called "Songs Backup or something like that. Make sure you copy and paste them though don't just move them. Also do the same with all the new loops you created.

You can always drag your loops back into the Garageband browser. Garageband will search for missing loops in your songs if they are not where they were originally.

This site has a good tutorial for adding loops to Garageband http://soundtrackloops.com/2009/06/how-to-install-apple-loops-in-garageband/

    Hope this helps!
