iPad is locked.....?

My iPad seems to be locked.... Powered off - now when I power on get icon that indicates that I should sync with itunes..... Attempt to sync to itunes but get error message that my ipad is password protected, and i need to enter password... challenge is that iPad is locked with itunes sync icon with no option to enter anything..... ? How do I get my iPad back..... ? Many Thanks !

Have you tried a hard reset, hold sleep/power button and home button at the same time until you get the logo and restart?

I've tried that - and get the apple logo - and then it goes back to the white cable / itunes icon/image.... Many Thanks for the response.

I am also having this issue, I tried to reset while connected to the PC and the message comes up that I need to imput my passcode.

tried plugging into computer...., hard reset......, still get white cable / itunes image, and password message from itunes....

came across this problem when replacing a part from an old ipad, it asks for the itunes dock but the password wont let it sync, removed replacement part and put the old one back and the ipad came on okay then i removed the password and put the replacement part back in. part was the internAL DOCK CONNECTOR

Turn off the ipad, disconnect from the computer and launch iTunes

Push the "Home" Button on your ipad and conenct the ipad USB to computer and now the ipad - Keep Holding ! And now iTunes should mount iPhone and force restore.
