AGE OF MACBOOK PRO?

I purchased a MacBook Pro on November 15, 2010. I purchased it brand new, so I was expecting it to have been built/created around October 2010 or something earlier in 2010. However, I was looking at the Desktop Information and noticed that the Desktop was created June 2009 and was last edited November 17, 2010 (the day I received and started using my laptop). Does that mean my laptop is more than a year old? If so, should I be concerned? Is it normal for Apple to give consumers "old" laptops?

My laptop specs:

MacBook Pro
13.3"
2.66 GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo
8GB RAM
500GB Hard Drive

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Hi CHARLIEBRAUN: It appears from your specs that your machine is a version 7.1. Please check by clicking on the Apple in the top left corner and select "About this Mac" then "More Info" The information should look like what I have posted below. If yours has "Model Identifier 7,1 it was first manufactured in April 2010 or later.

Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro1,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 1.83 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz

Hope this helps

I would not rely on that website to use your serial number. It is not secure.

Your serial number is one means of getting info about your warranty.
For a brand new machine only use Apple's website to look up the serial number on their support page:

http://www.apple.com/support/

Mind you, Apple's serial numbers are easy enough for the user to decode:

xxABCxxxx (sometimes additional digits follow), where x is any letter or number, A = last digit of year, BC = two numbers for week of year. So xx025xxxx is the 25th week of 2010.

Once you know your year and week, you can easily guess the MacBook Pro model you actually have.
