Dear Forum,

I have a screen freeze problem with my G5 DP. I've tried various ways to cure it like running OmniDiskSweeper to no avail.

Ignore them!

Permissions you can ignore on 10.5 and 10.6:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US

Using 'should be -rw-r--r-- , they are lrw-r--r--' as an example, you will see the that the permissions are not changed, but the | indicates a different location. This is because an update to Leopard changed the location of a number of system components.

As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done.

Sorry!

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.

Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

O.K. I have done Repair Permissions from the Ext HD Backup Disk.

I attempted an Internal HD bootup and observed a visual screen symptom indicating an error at bootup. The visual error is that the clockwise rotating dial turns a green/blue colour and then the screen freezes signaling a forced quit power down.

Does this visual error indicate a possible remedy to you?
