Open an app that has audio and turn the volume all the way up. Place your hand on the screen. The screen vibrates. Even the back of the iPad vibrates. I see no problem having the iPad on a motorcycle. Just don't go dirt bike riding and you'll be ok.
I took mine on a 2000 mile trip riding a road king, no problems at all. I put in my rear bag in a padded case on top of my clothes. I can carry a bottle of soda the same way and it doesn't get shook up, that was my test before taking the iPad. (I know Philly_Phan is big on test procedures)
Thanks everyone! I have certainly enjoyed the comments posted here, and so has my husband. He does resist buying a Goldwing though.
The idea about using iPad for a GPS and map source came after we landed on several miles of dirt road that were marked as paved on an official state map. The paper copy was wrong, and we really needed help. All we could do was stay with the dirt road until we reached pavement. What an adventure!
Have used the IPad all over parts of the US and Canada on V Stroms. I have used apps GPS Drive and GPS HD. No problems finding us and pointing the way.
