Splitting an Apple ID

My family have used iTunes for music and movie downloads since it started. I was in highschool and the time and used my parents Apple ID. I'm now newly married and finishing up school. Up until now I've continued to use my parents apple id for app and music downloads. I just made a new apple id for myself but of course I can't use any of the apps or media that I purchased through the store. Is there a way that we could become authorized to use the music and apps from my parents apple Id or split off a new account? Any solutions would be greatly appreciated. I really would like to avoid losing all of Music and apps. Thanks
