Aria Player not recognized

I am unable to bring the Aria player VST into Logic Express 9.1.3. I recently downloaded updates
to the Garritan JABB3 and an update to the Aria player. I had not tried to use the player since updating
Logic Express to the 9.1.3 version. Everything is ok in my Finale application. It seems to me some
problems were corrected in this Logic Express update regarding Audio Plug-ins. The Aria player is
validated and checked in the Audio Units Manager.

Thanks for your posting. The Aria player is installed in /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST and also in
~/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST. It is listed in Logics Audio Units Manager. It is validated and selected.

When I create a new software instrument, The Aria player is not listed in the Audio Units pull down menu. I used the install process from Garritan. The install was "successful" I have used the Aria
player in Logic Express previously. As I stated earlier, This is the first time I have tried to use the
player subsequent to updating Logic Express to version 9.1.3 and downloading an update to the
Garritan products mentioned. So, is it a Garritan or Logic Express problem?

Hi,

whatever VST - it is a *no go* for Logic. Logic only uses AU plugins which should be located in one of the following folders:

/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components
(user)/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components

The AU plugin's filename must end with *.component

So, look if it is there. Also look which type of plugin the AU manager is showing, if it is an effect or an instrument.

Can you run the Player as a standalone? Some Plugins require to be first launches standalone to verify the license or so.

Hello,

The ARIA Player can be used standalone. It is installed in the Component directories you listed and
the suffix is .component
The Au Manager shows it as an instrument. Here is the output of the AU Manager for the Player:

Strange - this all looks okay to me. Did you ask in the garritan support forum, too?
Did you do a complete re-index of the AU's?

Try - just for a chance - to load Logic Express with a fresh new user account and look if it works there.

I assume the "pull down menu" is the one in the channelstrip, because in the library you probably won't find non-apple plugins listed.

Hi, I use Aria Player in Logic Express 8--Yes, the Aria Player shows in the channel strip, specifically in the instrument slot below the I/O and above the output slot. I tried to help another user, Merlin66, who had the same issue with Aria and Logic Express 9. I don't know if he ever resolved it. I've included a link to the thread . . .

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2642051&tstart=45

As far as I know, if the AU Manager shows the validated AUs, they should be available in the channel strip. I have been using Aria Player in 8 without issues, so this is a mystery and I wonder if I would have the same problem when I upgrade to 9 [?]--

Hi,

I have used the ARIA player in Logic Express 9. It was listed in the channel strip as you described.
Everything was fine. I spent some time away not using Logic for awhile. Then, I eventually updated
to Logic to the 9.1.3 version. Again, I did not use it at that time. Then, a couple of days ago I decided
to download and update to The Garritan JABB3 and the ARIAI player. I then tried to use Logic Express
and discovered this problem. So, Is it Logic or the Garritan stuff? I have contacted Garritan support.
They suggested re-installing their stuff. So I did to know avail. I am waiting to hear more from them.

Thanks to josf for the help with this.
