Matrox RT mac drivers for Tiger?

Hi everyone,

I have just installed Tiger on to my G4 and im useing FCP 3 which I have not upgraded as it works just fine.... thanks, the problem is the Matrox RTMac card needs new drivers to work with Tiger and I have been on the Matrox site and I dont think they do them.

Can anyone tell me if they exist and if not is there an alternative to the Matrox RTMac for use with FCP 3 or 4.

any help would be very much appreciated.

Andrew

Hi Jerry,
Thanks for the suggestion I have been onto the site and had a look at the Canopus ADVC 110 and it does look good, I do have another question if you can help again,I dont know much about how these things work but the Matrox card helped with real time effects do you think that FCP will be affected not having the card working?

Andrew
P.S Thanks again for your help.

One of the reasons that Matrox dropped the box was because FCP 4 and 5 have more RT by themselves than what was added by the RTMac.

so the answer is no sort of... BUT the faster the Mac CPU and drives you have the more RT you'll get... Duals matter too, FCP uses both (or even all 4) if they are there. You'll get More RT the more mac you run on basically. G5's do more than G4's etc...But there's ALWAYS my favorite command when RT fails and you must render... Before you do, type option+p... try it - you'll like it. It forces FCP to playback any unrendered or rendered sequence as fast as it can show you the frames, up to real time. Better than rendering, only to find you need to change something.
