Help re e-mail password

Perhaps you can help me. I just purchased an ipod touch and having a terrible problem with access to the i tunes account, and possible other things on the ipod.

It is complicated. When i try to access i tunes they say my password is not valid. When i change my password on the io pod, I can't get into the apple forums, and when i change the password again, i can;t get into the ipod i i itunes on the i pod.

it seems that changing one, disallows entry on the other and says that this password has been, or is being used.

The problem is, when i set up the i pod touch i used a password and a different e-mail address, and i pod does not recognize the original password i set up (whatever that was as they had me changing back and forth like a yo yo)

I think I need verbal advice from apple but don't know how to contact them, I do not have applecare for this device-is there anyway I can get their help?
