Q: FCSvr catalog help!!!

Help!!!
I don't know who changed the proxies device directory and now after thousand uploads FCSvr is not not showing all the assets but only those last.
There is a way to append old proxies that still there in the old directory end rebuild the full catalog?
Tell me yes!!! I don't even think cataloging 10.000 clips again.
I'm already banging my head into the wall. Don't kill me say yes, please.
The sad thing is that the recent backups are the same, too new to be restored.
it's frightening, isn't it?

So the assets ARE there but the proxies are not?

Are both there assets and proxies but catalog is showing only last uploads those contained in the new proxy device.
Clarifying i have two proxy devices, one new with the last 1000 entries, one old with 10.000 clips, and only one media/library with all original file.
I don't know how but changing the proxy device, catalog lost links to old proxies and media.
Now all the work done (the most) seems to be useless, i cannot think of it.

You can only have one Proxy device. This device is selected in the Administration window under Preferences>Proxies.

I know, but a client with admin permission has inadvertently changed the proxy device. We are just cataloging at the time that's why i did not have noticed it before.
    A search i only missed a search...s*t
    Dead or alive?
    I'm in your hands.

    Thank you.

I would set the Proxy preference to the Proxy device with the most content and then just regenerate proxies on all the other assets so they get written to the same device.

You should be able to just copy the files from the old proxies location to the new one, and FCSvr will see them. You can see what the erroneous pathname is on a few assets and see if that exists in the old location first.

I just tried it on a test setup with a few dozen assets and it seemed to work. I'd have a backup and test it a few assets at a time before copying everything. I'd also do it with a script or something so you can undo it if you have to.

My main concern would be whether the name given in the ContentBase may have gotten reused by a new asset. I don't think it should, but if you get an "already exists" error be careful.

After copying them you may also need to log out of & log back in to FCSvr.

It seems to me that even if you have the original proxies and the media in the correct directory, the catalog can not be recreated.
It's a one way direction, if you have catalog you can of course regenerate proxies but not the opposite.
That it's what i need recreate catalog from the old proxies when ever possible.
    Where the metadata are stored?
