What's the fastest 3.1.3 or 4.2 ?

I'm afraid to update my iPhone to 4.2 software, but alot of apps still not works on old iOS.

I've updated in the past my 3G to 4.0 and 4.1 but I had to come back to 3.1.3 because iPhone 3G with iOS 4(and 4.1) was so slow and useless (what that shame, apple!)

What's up now with 4.2? Is better then 3.1.3, equal, WORST?

1st of all, I need to know if is "fast". Thank you

iPhone 3G, iPhone OS 3.1.3, Linux is the way

For me 3.1.3 is much faster. I downgraded to 3.1.3. My phone will stay there until I get another phone. If I can't use an app because of 3.1.3, that's the way it will be. Right now all the apps I use work fine with 3.1.3. I will just have to keep a close watch on updates to make sure they will still work with 3.1.3, and not update if they won't. I know there are a lot of people who have had no trouble with the 4.0 updates, but I'm not one of them. I really wish Apple would have entirely excluded the 3G from updating. The features you get aren't that great, and the speed is terrible.

Stick with 3.1.3 I'm in deep regret of ever upgrading my 3G to 4.1 and 4.2 It was so bad that I started carrying my iPod video again just for music because my iPhone would not play Pandora or locally stored music without locking up or getting hot.

I have also missed calls because the "slide to answer" would not move on over half my calls. Also in SMS/email I would type and characters and they would never appear on the screen as I typed. I would stop and wait 10 seconds and then see a replay of the buttons moving and the text appearing. I'm going to get a droid. Apple should not have forced it's 3G users into obsolescence and then not offered a way to restore back to the 3.1.3

then.. let me understand...
apple care only about "customer of the moment"?

If you buy a product day by day... apple will support you with new features.
If you have an old product.. apple detroy your product with bad software due to push you to buy something new?

Ok.. right now I know what product to buy in the future... "not apple" 😀

Let me start by saying I'm a huge fan of Apple. I work on Apple and Windows networks all day long and even recommend their products.

I have a full year left on my contract before I can think of getting a new phone and no way of reverting back to 3.1.3 or making 4.2 move faster. I've been to the Genius bar 4 times and called on the phone a few times. My 3G is out of warranty and is basically an old horse that needs to be shot. I do not want to shell out an early cancellation/upgrade fee and order an iPhone 4. I'm not saying that Apple does not care about 3G users. I'm just saying they leave us with no options to downgrade and get performance back or to upgrade without coming out of pocket to the tune of about $500.00

It's an elitist move and its very callous and coy. I'm moving over to the Droid side though because Apple is snotty when it comes to anything that is more than 12 months old.

What's the fastest 3.1.3 or 4.2 ?
