Question: connection problem to itunes store

Can anybody help? For months now I have had difficulty accessing itunes store. I can open itunes, sync my ipod and all that but when I click on the itunes store icon, "accessing itunes store" is displayed with the loading bar at top, it seems to only partially load however. My main itunes window remains blank. I have tried everything recommended on the itunes help site - uninstalled (and removed from directory)and re-installed twice now. I have run the diagnostic test and "secure link to itunes store failed" appears but the "help" button beside it does nothing. I of course have itunes version 10.1, I have not changed my security software or upgraded anything bar itunes. It simply decided to stop working on me. I would attach the diagnostic report which I have saved but cannot see how to do this here. Please, oh please, help. Am at my wits end. I bet it's something simple, and I will feel sufficiently stupid, but I don't care.

custom built, Windows XP

I think this might be a LAN settings thing, Tony.

Even though it's for a different error message/issue, try the following document:

[iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, iPod or Apple TV (2nd generation) software update server|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1814]

(If the box is already checked, try unchecking and rechecking it and clicking OK.)

If still no luck with the iTunes Store connection, even though you're not getting a (50), I'd try the following document:

[iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3288]
