HELP!!

I need help for my grandson's ipod touch 4th 8 GB. I bought it on ebay about three weeks ago for my grandson's 11th birthday. He wasn't careful with it and dropped it, breaking the glass. I took it to an Apple Store and they could not run the serial number and told me they couldn't help me with the repair. We don't have a lot of money to repair it. Any suggestions.

Have you checked the serial number?

Damage is not covered by the warranty, so you would have to pay for repairs. Does the Apple Store near you not do repairs?

The serial number on the back cover and in the ipod are not in the database that apple has.

Use this link http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/ to check how much it cost to repair your device. I suggest having a good case on it next time and tell him to be careful with it because it is an expensive toy.
