Error (36)

I Have an ipod touch 2g with IOS 4.0.1 loaded on it. It crashed a few days ago, it will not restore in Itunes and it gives me an message saying that "an unexpected error occurred (36)"

I was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else and if there's a way to fix it?

Did you try to connect in recovery mode to restore? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Also check your security software settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125

The Ipod is stuck permanently in recovery mode, as in it always has the logo saying connect to Itunes. I'm thinking that I"ll need to put it in DFU mode to restore. Any suggestions?

Here is a link for placing it in DFU mode. It says it is for the iPhone but it works for the iPod.

ok, so i've tried it in DFU mode and it still gives me the same error. I have tried different cables, USB Ports and computers, all with the same result. Any suggestions?

Did you try Ingo2711's link and be sure you disable all anti-virus, spyware, firewall etc.?

I did, and it gave the same result. I have tried in both DFU and recovery mode, and it gives me the same error.
