Cannot delete photos in i Photo

Thats correct - you can only delete photos from the camera roll.

If they are in the library you have to delete them on the computer and resync.

There has never been a delete function for album photo's

I delete photos on the iPad all the time. Click on the arrow icon in the upper right to bring up the menu that has a delete button in it. If you viewing a single image there is a trash can in the upper right to delete the photo as well.

David, Graham is correct. You can only delete photos that have been put directly onto the iPad through CCK or saved from web, email, etc.
Any photos or albums that are on the iPad form a synced folder through iTunes can only be deleted from your computer and then a re-sync.

Well, that's unlikley because what would happen when you tried to sync after deleting photos from your iPad? They would be removed from your computer. Is that what you would want?
Simplest thing is to just remove them from your iTunes sysnc list.

Oops, your right about photos that are imported by iTunes. Even if you deleted the photos, when you sync to iTunes you would have to remove the photos again after syncing. I'm not at my computer so I can't remember if you can turn syncing photo to off in iTunes.

I know you can do that... I guess you can't turn off syncing indivisible photos like you can with videos and music.
