HELP with my new ipad

Just bought my new ipad and plugged it in to my imac but the computer seems to acknowledge it but the upper right hand corner of the ipad saids not charging
HELP do I HAVE A PROBLEM ALREADY!
now I seem to have a problem with mac runs altot slower and only in safe mode
any help would be welcome .

Imac desktop with intel core duo to replace older imac desktop G4 10.4.11

You're OK. You probably have it plugged into the keyboard which doesn't put out a lot of current (I'm not sure if it puts out any current at all). You have two options.

1. Temporarily unplug your printer and use that port. (Do NOT use a USB hub.)

2. Use the wall charger and charge the iPad completely. Then use the more convenient keyboard connector and ignore the message. The iPad battery is phenomenal and you can do whatever you need with no worries.
