First try to turn off your iPhone, with the sync cable not plugged in.
Then hold down the home button (iPhone still off) and plug in the sync cable. (Keep holding the home button until iTunes pops up).
You have now entered force recovery mode.
Now try to update the iPhone, using iTunes, as instructed.
That should work.
Hope I helped!

Sounds Great but ain't working for me. I mean Seriusly ain't working for me. Im not trying to downgrade my IOS, neither trying to update my IOS. Okay Guys i bought this Iphone yesterday, this is my 3th and since then I haven't been able to use it yet or anything.. I Bought my Working Pc from my boss okay, but this laptop have been used by others, And when i installed Itunes i think i must have logged into someones itunes, cause When i connected my Iphone It Apears my iphone allrdy had a name "Victor" which i found out was my bosses son's Iphone name. Okay so I was stupid I saw the button Restore, and i tryed hit it, i though hey i can allways restore it again, and got the option to restore "victors Backup files" So though yeah lets try see which apps hes got. unlucky me this guy had no aps all all but a filled harddrive with movies texts and pictures who are not mine..

Now i really regreat i did restore it, first of all cause itunes refuse to connect to softwareupdate, Second I tryed google and alternative way to do this.

So I put my Iphone I restore mode, thats not a problem, downloaded a frimware I tryed both 4.3.3 which is the current version the new phone came with, trye 4.3.4 and 4.3.5 And there was no change, I shift Restored in Itunes browsered the file okay. but then i get this 3194 error code. So i googled this error code found that explination that error code 3194 is if u try downgrade ios from 4.x.x to 3.x.x . Which is where my leads in this problems ends. Im not trying to downgrade im trying to restore my current IOS, i neither want a newer or older IOS Version, i just want this to work. I want to be able to restore it, like the verry first time i did it, just with my own settings and stuff insteed of someone else.. What should i do now, i have a new iphone i can't get to work

I might Found a solution to my own problem at least maybe, but im gonna need help.. it apears i can only restore saves backup profiles. So I was wondering.. If someone with a fresh new iphone as the first thing make a backup of it, or a person who just restored his iphone makes an backup, and send me somehow, this is where i need help cause idk how to send or find these backup files.. Then i would be able to restore it with that backup, and that way restore my Iphone right?

if thats truth im gonna need a Iphone body who can help me with it? Or is there a better solution to this?

i had this problem and downloaded TinyUmbrella, ran it, go to the advance tab and uncheck a box that says for u to uncheck it if u want iTunes to restore the iPhone, then hit "fix restore" in the top left, the program will seemingly do nothing for a while then close the program , now use iTunes to restore the iPhone

Just been having the same issue on 4s. Went into Edit>Preferences>Devices and reset sync history. Next Edit>Preferences>Advanced: Reset Cache+ Reset Warnings. Seem to have had a full recovery now.

(I also killed the process inetinfo.exe becasue I was trying to get TinyUmbrella to put my phone in recovery mode which it couldn't do - this is probably unconnected though)

Ibought an unlocked Iphone 16BG 3Gs from eBay. I used it for a week

TillI connected my Iphone to ITunes and they notify me I needed to upgrade my

Software and I accept.

That was the mistake I made as it upgraded to 5.01 and I cannot access

myphone. When I put on my phone I am getting the activation screen. I trycompleting the activation but with no success. When I connect my phone to USBand start Itunes I am getting error message

"Thereis no Sim card installed in the Iphone your are attempting to

activate"

Itired the following with no success.

  • Itried downgrading from 5.01 to 4.33 by downloading firmware from google. Holding shift button and clicking restore onITunes, selecting the firmware but I am getting error message" Iphone“Iphone” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3194)
  • I also tried using RedSn0w program and no luck at all.

Pleasehelp.
