You said that simply it's not a function in iphone and you insulted nokia, but your talk is wrong first the waiting service i found it on most of mobile phones trade marks for instance: samsung, nokia, lenovo,LG,linux(nokiašŸ˜‰) and many other trade marks what i want to say that it's not a function for discussion 😔 it's a primary and necessary function in calls and if you forgot that the primary purpose for inventing mobiles is to call and it is a shame.that the iphone doea.not have i do.not the reason of not to applying this.

And now.i 'll.tell.you many reasons for .this service because you said that if the person.did.not answer so he won't talk to you. Stop here it's not right

Not always like this may be Some one in aproblem and i want to.know if he has his mobile or not if i found he is waiting i'll wait minutes and then call again because iknow that he is here active but if it's not waiting i 'll be confused between he won't answer as you said or he is in abig problem

Second if some one doubt in his wife or girlfriend and he want.to.be sure that she is not talking alot.on.her phone because if he founf her talking.too.much he will ask her who you was talking all this .timeor but by your absence of waiting service he can call her times and after she will say to him i was sleeping and he will .never know about this (&vise versa)because of this simple function as you said befor

And their are alot of problems and things cab be made in .presence and absence of this service but.i 'll not talk longer

Last but not least i want to say this.service is.vety essential in .our daily.calls so please i speak to apple to look in this issue carefully as a request from her beloved customers (common issue)

Mtks in advance

I also have the same problem with me, it does not show to me a message on the screen of my Iphone 4 that the caller is on another call. This service does not need me to register or anything, it is because I am the caller not the recipient who should have this service enabled, I know that my friend enabled the service who told me then he was on call. Why does the companies when they are stuck, they manipulate the issue! Would you please give us a clear answer and if it is a bug? we would be happy if it is resolved in the coming update.

Kind regards,
Busaud

To repeat what was said above the message you posted, Call Waiting is a CARRIER function. The iPhone will support it if your account has it enabled by the CARRIER. If the CARRIER does not provide it, or has not provisioned your account with it, call waiting will not work on your phone. If the CARRIER has provisioned it correctly it will work.

Call waiting will tell you if there s another call while you are on the phone. It does not tell the new caller that you are using the phone.

this isn't fully correct depending on who your calling what carrier or what landline there is often a audible alert after the ring that informs you that the caller is on another call I have it happen all the time..

Everyone who I've ever seen ask about this feature has seen it on a Nokia. I'm guessing it is a Nokia only feature. I've certainly never seen it on any of the Motorola, HTC, Blackberry or LG phones I've had. Many of these phones have been top of the line and quite expensive. My carrier will indicate with a beep at the end of the ring that the other party is on the line. However, if they are using a service that replaces the ring tones with music, I don't get any indication that they are already engaged in a call.

If they don't answer you they either can't or don't want to talk to you. I still don't understand how the reason makes that much difference.

I'm with Meg on this one. How big a deal can it possibly be to know precisely why the person you are calling isn't answering you? If I call and get no answer I'll end up on the person's voicemail at some point - meaning they're on another call, the phone's switched off, they can't get to the phone, they have no signal or they cannot or don't want to talk!

Still, Nokia having this feature has certainly helped keep them at the top of the phone market....oh......
