iphone 4 stuck at start up screen (Apple logo)

I did a data and content dump in the settings this morning. Now the phone will not pass the Apple logo upon boot-up. I can hold both buttons down to restart the phone and it will but always freezes at the Apple logo. It will not shut off and the Apple logo remains on screen. I have not tried plugging it into my computer yet as for i'm away from home and was looking for a fix without the computer. Not sure if iTunes is even going to recognize the phone since it will not reboot completely. Any thoughts?

Simply connect your iphone to your computer, open itunes, and all you need to do is hold the home button and the sleep wake button at the same time for 10 seconds. After that release the sleep/wake button, but continue to hold the home button for until a message pops up on your itunes telling you that your iphone is in recovery mode. From there you can then restore your phone if you can.

If that did work then take it back to the apple store and get a replacement. Normally a DFU mode should revive the phone.
