please HELP me connect my ipad to my TV

ok i have the ipad doc and a red white and yellow cable with a tip end that i plug into the back of the dock then into my tv. i am getting sound (trying to use the game "the incident" which just got an update that allows you to play and use your pod as a controller) but no picture. Do i have to get the adaptor that connects directly into the charger port then wires to the tv for this to work?

i just tried to play a music video off my library and the same thing is happening

Simply havingnthe cables connected doesn't mean that video will be ported out to your tv. You can't merely mimic your ipad's screen and I've never heard of anyone using it this way for game video.

Not of the apps Will port video out to your TV. The video app on the iPad will play videos to your tv. Apps like
Keynote will also play on your tv. Games don't play on on the tv from the iPad.

As David stated, only a handful of apps support video out. In addition to those he mentioned, Netflix and Expedition Browser will output video to your TV.
