I am not sure where the correct forum I could ask this question, but I just bought an iMac. After some tinkering with the Magic Mouse on my iMac which did do the 1 finger scroll, and 2 finger forward/back motions, I decided to let my wife try it out with her Macbook Pro (2009). It comes up as "Jon's Magic Mouse" on her computer and it pairs correctly. However, none of the scrolling features work. It only points and clicks.
The software is up to date on her computer and she is running Snow Leopard. Any thoughts? Thanks.
I am having the same exact problem with my new Macbook Air. Just bought the magic mouse and it connects just fine but it only moves and clicks. Does not scroll or anything. All software is up to date and have checked all my settings.
i read all that. the update is installed. and re-downloaded and now reinstalled. still no scroll. no zoom either.
im packing it off to work in a few and will try it there. im thinking that if i pair the mouse first and then have the OS figure it out and auto update, i might have better luck.
the only differences with the work machine is its a 2.4Ghz iMac with a cleaner and more recent install.
once i removed USBOverdrive with its own unistall utility, the Magic Mouse worked properly. as long as USBOverdrive was installed (even after removing the preference pane from the System Preferences), all i had was a very striped down set of options for the Magic Mouse. now everything is as it should be. (stupid haxie!)
*It would be great if anybody could solve this.*
My scrolling and touch gestures completely stopped when I used superduper to upgrade to a better drive and rebooted with that.
-I fixed Permissions
-Looked for all these preference files mentioned in the tread. I had some, didn't have others. Removed them all cleared.
- Cleared P ram, Rebooted several times
None of these fixes has worked and none in the thread have worked. I also have a trackpad (external) and that seems to work fine.
My magic mouse stopped scrolling and I fixed it by obtaining and running the MagicDriver uninstaller. It can be obtained from the following URL:
http://plentycom.jp/en/magicdriver/index.html
I had previously removed what I thought were all of the beta files for this driver since it expired but that resulted in my magic mouse scroll to stop working. Run the uninstaller program and your magic mouse scroll should work after a restart.
