iPod Touch playlist not syncing to iTunes

So I own an iPod Touch (4th Gen), and I sync it to the latest iTunes (10.2). Now, I've created a playlist (via iTunes) on my iPod, and from time to time, I like to add tracks via the ipod touch's "EDIT" option that are already on the ipod into this playlist.

Previously, when I added tracks from my ipod to the playlist via the "EDIT" option, and then later synced it to my iTunes, the songs that I added to my playlist were all there. HOWEVER, now, for some odd reason, every time I sync my ipod to my itunes, all the tracks that I added to my playlist disappear / don't show up. It's like they get erased as soon as I sync my ipod.

WHY? Anyone have a reason to why my tracks USED TO show up before, and now all of a sudden they DON'T in my created playlist?

Thanks in advance for all help and advice!

I have the same problem.

I have a new Ipod touch still on iOS 4.1
I have latest itunes 10.x
I run on Windows 7

I have the same problem. all songs are sync'ed but playlist do not appear.

I use the same config to update an older iPod Classic 60GB and also a Ipod Nano 16GB and they work fine.

Problem is only with iPod touch 64GB.

I found the cause of my problems. try this:

1. open iTunes
2. connect iPod
3. when connected, click on the iPod line that was added in the left pane
4. You should now see you iPod model with the screen allowing you to restore your iPod, on the top, click on Music
5. select wanted playlist or choose all of them.
6. now, sync as usual

good luck.

I found an older version's screen with what I mean:

Looks a lot like Apple would prefer to ignore us but I'd like to add my voice to the disgruntled horde: please fix this, or at least reply. It's clearly a bug that plenty of people care about.

I waited for so long for Apple to add playlist management to the iPod. It seemed like such a bizarre omission. Now it might as well have been taken away again because I can't add music to my iPod without losing all my on-device playlist changes.
