how to change the ipad's name in iTunes

Where you see the name in Devices in iTunes, just double click on it and you can then change it to whatever you like.

It doesn't work for me. In iTunes I renamed my iPad, then sync it with ipad. After disconnecting and then reconnecting the device, only old name appears in iTunes. It seems the change of name is volatile! Can anyone help? Thanks.

I've got the same problem - I rename it every time I sync it, and by the next time I plug it in it's back to 'iPad'

I've git the same problem. Don't understand why the question is listed as answered here. I can change the name but during sync it defaults back to the old name.
