Stream Mac desktop to AppleTV (or PS3)

I was wondering if it would be possible to stream my Mac's desktop to the AppleTV? I'm thinking of the following process, but not sure where to start:

- Use VLC or some kind of video capture software to stream to a file.
- Share this file through iTunes (or a DLNA server for PS3)
- Access this file through Apple TV (or PS3)

No, it's not possible. Can't answer about the PS3.

now it is very possible, via ps3 tho you can not.
