Grey page on Safari

I was using Safari when the entire page suddenly went grey below the address bar. I can type in a new address and it will open, but the new page is also grey. Cannot scroll up or down or select anything on the page to link to. No problem with any of my apps. Can get live connection to USA Today & other publications via internet with no problem, but if I go directly to Safari, I get the grey page. Any ideas?

HI and welcome.....

Tap Settings on your Home screen then tap Safari. Clear the History, Cookies, and Cache.

Restart your iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

Try Safari.

I have had this greyed screen occur twice now since updating my OS. Both times I was typing in the search bar area of Safari - after hitting search the keyboard stays up, google is dark grey - looks like it is selected to copy - and I can not touch anywhere on the page to make it ungrey. Back button works, but previous pages are grey also. New page is inoperable.

If I have to clear the cache and reboot every time this happens - I will not be very happy. :<
