Screws on the bottom different then the older models of the iphone 4?

If I recall correctly, I remember that the screws on the iphone 4 (bottom) had a + on it on my previous iphone 4's before replacing.

Just yesterday i got my phone replaced because of the yellow band across the screen. The previous one had home button issue but replaced it 6 days ago. Anyways, earlier today, I noticed that the bottom screws where a star shaped (like the one shown on the gallery section), but not a +.

Anyone else notice this? F.Y.I. the serial starts with 5K. So I'm wondering if all 5K comes with the * screws.

I see so these days all new iphone 4 and replacement would come with the * screws on them.

thanks for the respones.

I have mentioned, I have no intent on removing them. I just found it odd because previous iphone 4 that I have owned (Since August 2010) had the + screws. But anyways it's good to know. 🙂

This will be a downside for me...i like working on my own stuff...computers, electronics, cars...heck even plumbing...

I dont like paying extra cash for something i can do my self...plus not to mention not all technician does a quality job...so id rather fix it my self, do it right...

With this new screw i probably wont even be able to replace anything and have to submit paying labor cost fixing the phone...

I fixed my chrome bezel and glass on my 3GS to make it even myself cause Apple say its a manufacturing process and they cant do anything about it...yeah right...

Not if you are within the warranty period. There is no labor cost for the iphone. as they simply just replace the phone if found defected, within the warranty period. However, if it was out of warranty, upon replacement, I'm sure all they charge you is $199.

However, like you said, if you like to fix it yourself, then you will probably have to find the * screw drivers.

But if it's within warranty, why not just have apple take care of it?

If its covered by warranty sure i would take it to apple...but like you said if its something not covered like accidental...$200 to fix most issue it too much where i can just get oem parts and do it myself...

To have the battery replaced by apple it will cost like $80...where as i can even get a higher capacity that fits an iPhone and only cost me $20...

And its not a complicated process to do it...i just feel like apple does these things so they can profit still on something very simple for some people...at least give people options...but knowing apple, they dont realy give options...hehehe
