How do I add a row and keep cell formatting?

I've set up this sheet with columns having varying formatting. Columns A, B, and C have a pop-up, column D has a slider, and column E ordinary text.

When I add rows below, as in 20 and 21 in the screenshot, the formatting isn't copied. I only get blank cells with automatic fomatting set by default.

Is there a way to

1. Add a row, keeping all the formatting of the row above? or
2. At least copy the formatting and paste it into the other cells? I've tried Copy, copy style, paste, paste style, but none of these seem to work.)

A quick test shows that Numbers follows the same rules regarding filling formatting into new rows as it does for filling formulas into new rows:

If ALL body cells in a column contain the SAME formatting, the formatting will be filled into the new rows as they are added.
If ANY body cells in the column have formatting different from other cells in the same column, formatting in new rows will be set to the default 'automatic' in that column.

You can set the formatting to match settings in the last 'old' row by selecting that row and the added rows, then choosing Fill Down from the Insert menu.

The attributes are copied to new rows if the existing rows contain the same formulas.

This well known feature was described *_many times_* in this forum.

In your table, it can't apply because you have existing row containing nothing.
Assuming that the filled rows match the given rule, delete the blank rows
select the lower row
apply insert new row below
and you will get the formulas and the attributes.
