i got the same problem. i bought my iphone (sim- and netlock free) 4 in the apple online store (germany).
now i wanna activate and use the iphone with my base/eplus sim, but itunes says that the SIM card is not supported.

Find out if Base/Eplus supports iPhone, not all providers do. Simyo does, I'm on their prepaid deal. Also, Simyo has a good data plan compared to T-Mobile and others: 1GB, 30 days, €9.90.

Ich habe exakt das gleiche problem mit meinem iPhone 4, welches von Werk aus unlocked ist. Vodafone, O2 und t-mobile SIM Karten werden sofort erkannt, sprich ich kann dann das Handy nutzen. Wenn ich jedoch meine Prepaid Karte von Aldi (medion mobile) reinstecke, spuckt iTunes die oben erwähnte Fehlermeldung aus.

I have exactly the Same Problem with my. iPhone 4 which Factory unlocked. Vodafone, O2 and t-mobile Runs great on it. It can use my iPhone with them. But when i use my prepaid Card which is from Aldi (called Medien mobile) i get same error in iTunes like in the first topic.

Hallo, ich habe scheinbar ein ähnliches Problem, falls schon jemand eine Lösung hat, wäre ich dafür sehr dankbar.
Ich habe im Apple Store in Zürich ein vertragsfreies Iphone gekauft.. dazu in der Schweiz seperat einen Sunrise-Vertrag abgeschlossen und damit das Gerät aktiviert. Da ich ab und zu in Deutschland bin habe ich hier noch einen O2-Vertrag - dafür habe ich mir auch eine passende Micro-Sim zuschicken lassen. In der Schweiz funktioniert Sunrise ohne Probleme.. auch in Deutschland. Wenn ich die Karte von O2 einlege, dann kommt die Fehlermeldung "Ungültige Sim-Karte" oder nur ein Balken in der Anzeige.. das Iphone schafft es sich nicht einzuloggen. Neustarten und zurücksetzten hat bisher auch nichts gebracht.
Wenn ich eine andere SIM-Karte in das schon aktivierte IPhone setze, dann sollte das ja eigentlich ohne Probleme funktionieren, oder?

Yes, if the carrier allows that sim to support iPhone. I often switch between my prepaid Simyo and contract T-Mobile sims and have no problems.

Ich bin's nochmal, habe heute mit Apple telefoniert und der Mitarbeiter hat mir erklärt, dass es, ich nenne es mal teilweise-unlock Iphones gibt, also wie in meinem Fall, ist das iPhone dann nur mit t-mobile, Vodafone und O2 nutzbar, jedoch nicht für Aldi Talk oder eplus. Gut das O2 vernünftige Tarife hat.

It's me again. Today i called Apple and the guy on the phone said to me that some iphones are not open for every carrier. But they are not totally unlocked so you can use your IPhone with several carriers. Which means I can use vodafone, t-mobile and o2 on my phone but not Aldi talk or eplus.
