Virtual Keyboard sensitivity

I've had my iPad about a week and this morning the virtual keyboard started messing up. It types without me touching the screen. simply my hand passing over the keys will cause the key to type. does the same thing when launching an app. just pass over it and the app launches. any ideas?

iPad, iOS 4

The screen is capacitive sensitive, so possibly you've picked up some static electricity or your fingers are either damp or greasy. These can cause the screen to pick up a "touch" without hardly touching the screen.

There really is no solution because there is no way for the user to reduce screen sensitivity. I suppose you can try some clean covering over the screen to see if that helps any.

Firstly, Welcome to Apple Discussions!

Your problem is incredibly rare, however I do understand you are not the only one suffering from this problem.

You are likely to have built up static on your hands or on the iPad itself. To make sure it is not the software, do a reboot and a hard reset (Hold sleep/wake and home buttons together until the apple logo appears). If that doesn't help, wait for a while, as the static will likely wear off. If you still have a problem, then take the iPad into an apple store and get a genius appointment. Someone there is bound to sort it out.

Hope this helps!
Nathan
