Upgraded to 10.6.5, now Painter IX won't start

In order to install the new iLife package, I had to be at 10.6.3 or higher, so I went to 10.6.5 (from 10.5.8). Then I installed iLife.

Everything seems to be OK, except for Painter IX, which is my major non-Apple software on my macbook. It tries to start, bounces off the dock, I see popups that says it's initializing, but then it stops bouncing and the little white dot disappears. That's it.

Any ideas?

Interesting, because it gives a little insight into the install/uninstall process under OS X.

Applications are supposed to provide uninstallers to do this for you. Corel's uninstall process is very easy. Many packages are much more difficult and often don't provide installers.

Anyhow, now I have Painter IX.5 up and running.

Good. You should still look into Painter 11. It seems much more stable than the older versions.
