MacBook Pro Logic Board Failure

I was using my computer just fine (2007 MBP core 2 duo) all day. Put it to sleep came back after 30 minutes and tried to wake it and it's dead. I held down the power key to shut it down then tried to restart no luck. No start up chime, no screen, keyboard seems dead as well (caps lock light does not light up), HD does not start up. The only signs of life are the white light on the screen latch that is now on, the fans are spinning and the DVD drive seems to work.

Reset the power management module and zapped the PRAM, no luck.

Anyway,

Apple is calling me to discuss something ...

I wonder if that BBB complaint has gone anywhere yet?

And the reseller of this lemon iMac called but did not leave a message.

( all a bunch of rotten apples in a barrel )

My goal is to not to have to open the computer at all until I get

Apple or the reseller to take responsibility for this 2011 iMac that

ran for only 3 months before it died.

And Apple rejected my efforts to legitimately and willingly pay for

an extension on any warranty since the iMac was previously owned

before I got this hot potato. I mean I did register the computer in

my name after I got it. I thought I did everything right and I got burned

by just shutting the machine down properly and unplugging it and it won't

come back on? And using a surge protection too?

Something's rotten in Denmark... and it is probably an apple...

And meanwhile I am successfully communicating , sending email, etc.

by using my more reliable Sony 2009 and Dell 2008 computers both

running Windows - while I wait for my Macbook 2011 model to be

repaired as it is fortunately under Applecare.

So far it has been 3 days and nothing...

I make sure I tell Apple that each email I send (even to the top).

I hope you all find solutions here from Apple

as to why some of their computers do not seem reliable.

God bless.... America

It looks like my Macbook is fixed as someone logged into it

as I have Teamviewer running.

I cannot wait to get it back to check the serial # as there

was discussion there could be a possible discrepancy in

the old serial and perhaps a new one if the logic board was

replaced.

That may require a whole new set of possible investigations...

or inquiries to maybe add to the BBB report.

Meanwhile I am still using Windows computers (Sony and Dell) both

built before 2009 and still running strong. Now only 1 Apple computer (mid 2011)

iMac is still not running, not powering on.

I hope everyone is having a lovely day.

is it okay to forward some of your comments, experiences to the

CEO of Apple? I have his email address I think.

I made mention of you saying you got new logic boards and you have

not had problems since getting the new ones.

That means that Apple was putting in faulty ones at one point?

(was that intentional?) bbb.org is on the copy list as well.

I just don't know, help me understand?

Thank you.

I would be glad to forward some of these comments to the customer

support personnel as I have their email addresses.

I did not understand , what insults?

surely using correct English grammar or

subject-predicate or singular/plural agreement attempts or corrections are not insults or

should not be considered as insults but as being enlightening of how

to use the language better or correctly.

No insults were hurled and no animals or apples, for that matter, were harmed either.

I appreciate your sarcasm , but if you really want

I am sure you can find out the email.

And I said I would forward just the conversations (not names) here to

the appropriate people and I just asked if I could

copy and paste what has been said here , not to

give you anyone's email address... that is like giving

out a personal phone # or home address... privacy issues.

Dec 5, 2013 9:12 AM in response to Csound1

none of you has been helpful as well

because this iMac still is not working, powering on. 🙂

It is mutual.

I never promised to give out anyone's email.

Only forward the conversation here to those

I have been in contact with.

It looks like I am going to have to donate this iMac.

Although the Apple store almost kind of said it could

look at the iMac for free...

but would have to pay if any work is done to it

like replacing something...

The good news is my Macbook is fixed... let me see if the

serial number matches, hold on ...

...

it seems as if the serial number is the same

well have a good day.

I am still typing from my Dell computer

Well I replaced my logic board a little less than 4 months ago and now my mbp is dead again. I merely turned it on and opened the internet browser. Screen became garbled and flickered. Then it was gone.

Really disappointed because I paid a substantial amount of money on my very beastly laptop to handle all of my adobe creative suite and 3D modeling program needs. $2800! I've replaced the logic board already and Applecare has ended, as it is a 2010 model. I've never even been able to use these programs since I've had it! Great impression for my very first owned macbook pro.

In fact I posted on this very discussion when my logic board went out the first time.

Thanks apple.
