Q: Xcode 3.2.5 without iOS?

So Apple used offer Xcode Developer Tools as a stand alone download without the iOS development

I notice that the new developer page doesn't give me even the nice listing of all the available downloads as before. Somehow I managed to find that listing in an older part of the website:
http://connect.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MemberSite.woa/wa/downloads

However, only Xcode 3.2.2 is available.

Does Apple no longer offer Xcode with ONLY Mac development tools? Or does it force you to download both Mac and iOS development together with the new versions of Xcode?

Also, when landing on the new developer site, is there an easy link that gives you all the download listingd like the old site above?

thanks guys.

Apple's Mac Dev Center currently has no standalone download for Xcode 3.2.5. The Xcode 3.2.5 download includes the iOS 4.2 SDK. If you don't want to do iPhone development, don't install the iOS SDK when installing Xcode. When choosing what pieces to install, there's a section called Essentials, which looks like it can't be changed, but if you click the disclosure triangle next to Essentials, you can tell the installer not to install the iOS SDK.

Well, this is HIGHLY inconsiderate of Apple. Not everyone has high-speed broadband access at their fingertips. With my DSL connection ("up to" 1.5 Mbps) it's taking an estimated 6.5 hours to download the combined installer. I don't need the stinking iOS SDK - just let me download what I need!!

I agree with Pates88, forcing a 3.5GB download is a drain on everyone.

You can also simply disagree to the iOS SDK license and it will not be installed along with Xcode.

Have to agree, totally crazy to glue two distinct products together and force the end user to download.  I need a VERY small subset of xcode to accomplish a time sensetive task and am on an aircard trying to download a 4+ GB SDK...  this isn't about agreeing to the license or not, it's about courtesey to developers who need something.  My first day on the apple developer site, not encouraging me to stay in the warm embrace of the Apple ecosystem.

Downloads are incremental with the latest tools. You're obliged to stay current.

Xcode without the iOS SDK is still a huge download. Having Xcode separate from the iOS SDK isn't going to save you much time. The iOS developers are the ones who should be complaining. They have to download 4 GB every time Apple updates the iOS SDK.

If you want to install the Mac compilers without installing Xcode, read the following:

Not true. Again, stay current and take advantage of the times

The latest version of Xcode includes a 'Downloads/Components' tab specifically for new SDKs, tools, etc.

Those who complained before how have to find something else to worry over.
