best workflow for Canon 7D (progressive) and Canon HX-A1s (interlaced)

I have been doing 2 shot interviews using the Canon 7D and Canon HX-A1s. What is the highest quality and most efficient workflow in 29.27 fps with the 7D being progressive and the XH-A1s is interlaced? I have been converting the 7D footage to ProRes 422 (HQ).
What Capture Preset is best for HX-A1s and Sequence Preset for radiating?

Your help would be most appreciated.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.5), FCP 7.0.3 (Studio)

ProRes HQ is really too much for DSLR video. That was designed for 10 bit formats, and formats over 2K. Like RED, AVCIntra, HDCAM SR...high end stuff. Your DSLR shoots an 8-bit format. If you encode to ProRes 422...and to ProRes HQ, you will see zero difference. So use ProRes 422 and save on your drive space.

Use a ProRes 422 progressive timeline.

Great. What should the workflow be for the HX-A1s since it is interlaced 1440x1080. Is that an issue working in a ProRes 422 timeline or should I convert/capture it differently?

If you have the space, capture as ProRes....you can do that via firewire. If you are short, then capture as HDV and just work with it with a green render bar over the footage, and render later. Mixing formats is pretty easy as long as your sequence settings are ProRes.

And your interlaced camera will take on a progressive look. If you are OK with that.

Thanks. Would the best Sequence Preset for the project then be Apple ProRes 422 1920x1080 30p 48KHz (though the HX-A1s camera is filming 1440x1080) and Capture Preset at HDV-Apple ProRes 422 to log and capture HX-A1s footage?

I'm trying to find specific closure to the question because there are so very many preset options at the start of the FCP workflow.

Using those two cameras, would you say that the best Sequence Preset for a project is Apple ProRes 422 1920x1080 30p 48KHz (though the HX-A1s camera is filming 1440x1080)?

And Capture Preset at HDV-Apple ProRes 422 to log and capture HX-A1s footage?

TEST! Test and see. I haven't worked with both those formats at one time. So I can only offer suggestions. People, including me, always shoot camera tests to figure out workflow...if they want to be well prepared. If you have the cameras, go shoot something and test things out. Then you can actually see for yourself how things look.

Well, I have mixed ProRes from AVCIntra cameras, and Canon 7D, with HDV interlaced...and I used just a standard ProRes 422 1080p 29.97 timeline. Close to what you are doing. SO use that and test and see.

Thank very much for your support. I'll start with the XH-A1s ProRes 422 30P conversion into a ProRes 1920x1080 30P Sequence, and compare it with the 7D footage.
