At the bottom it says if there is still an issue to contact the printer manufacturer, however I am confused why it is the printer's issue when connecting the printer directly to the computer is not a problem. Sounds like passing the buck to me.
There's a significant difference between a printer that is directly attached to a computer and a printer that functions over a network. Separate printer drivers are required for each application.
It is the printer manufacturer that supplies the drivers for their devices to Apple. While most manufacturers have provided drivers that work when a printer is attached directly to a computer, some have not provided drivers for all of their devices to function on a +network connection+.
Since it appears that Brother has not provided the network drivers to Apple for your particular model, you might want to check with Brother to see if the network driver might be available directly from them as a download that you could install to gain the functionality that you need.
