Sound out of sync after iMovie '11 upgrade

I have a project nearly an hour long made in iMovie '09. I just upgraded to iMovie '11 and now the sound is out of sync with the picture. It gets progressively worse the longer into the movie you go. I discovered this when I went to do more work on the project. The sound and picture were perfectly in sync in iMovie '09. I don't understand how Apple can release an upgrade with no warning that it will destroy all your previous work. What happens now?

There is nothing in the sound modification that may cause loss of sync.

O.K. Knowing nothing about what goes on behind the scenes, I just saw sound change and sound problems and figured they might be related.

I should have added: and the fact that synchronization problems did not begin with the 9.01 update, but began with the very first release of iMovie '11 (9.0). So it would seem (to me) that the problem cannot be laid completely on what happened in the making of the update. Unless it is a coincidence that both versions have synchronization problems. I wish I could check to see if iMovie '09 had synchronization problems (of the lesser sort found in version 9.0 (of iMovie '11)). It sure is confusing to have iMovie '11 also be called iMovie version 9.

That would seem to be the case however not many are saying, even though they have been asked, what sort of media they are using so it's inconclusive at this stage.

hi, I have a 45 minute home movie that didn't show any problems while editing, but now that I spent 6 hours exporting it to HD 720 (to use with iDVD), the audio is completely bugged out. Some clips skip to the end of the their audio, and then play in silence. Some music starts or stops at random times. Some audio cuts out before the end of the clip... it's absolutely insane. I'm on the verge of selling all of my Apple stock, throwing this thing in the trash and buying a nice Windows computer like my grandparents have. Please, someone talk me down... or send me the heads of whatever idiots released iMovie '11 without seeing if it worked or not.

I'm reading about this 9.0.2 update, but my iMovie isn't finding it when I "Check for Updates"... where else can I get it??

I also just upgraded to 9.0.2. and it solved my synch issues. Thank you Apple!!!!! I was also having problems with video in my event window speeding up unexpectedly for no apparent reason and this is also no longer occurring. Very fine work on this upgrade 9.0.2!!!

Here is what 9.0.2 seems to done: it has removed the problem that was caused by 9.0.1, but has left intact the problem that existed in 9.0. The smaller (but still serious) problem of 9.0 will not be noticeable to people who do not have very long event-clips. By "long", I mean, say, 2 hours. Even then, it will only be noticeable in those scenes where the connection between the cause of the sounds and the sounds themselves is clear, e.g., a close-up of someone speaking.
