Sound out of sync after iMovie '11 upgrade

I have a project nearly an hour long made in iMovie '09. I just upgraded to iMovie '11 and now the sound is out of sync with the picture. It gets progressively worse the longer into the movie you go. I discovered this when I went to do more work on the project. The sound and picture were perfectly in sync in iMovie '09. I don't understand how Apple can release an upgrade with no warning that it will destroy all your previous work. What happens now?

I have what I think is the same problem. I have imported a large file (a full film file, ~97 minutes), and the sync is progressively worse (edit: by which I mean the sync is worse later in the file, near the end of the film) as I preview the video in iMovie '11. If I load the AIC file (which iMovie uses as an event file) in quicktime player, the audio is in sync throughout the film, so I have verified it is not within the encoding/importing.

What is there to do? Is there any way to use quicktime from within iMovie?

Same issue with me. Sound and audio, by the end of the clip, are in no way lined up. Seems like the audio moves at a much faster rate than the video throughout the entire length of a clip.

However, I just bought a new MacBook in November with iMovie 11. I have made a number of movies on it and nothing was wrong. This only started to happen the past 2 weeks after iMovie 11 updated to a new version.

Weird...

I just finished testing a "fix" for this. Go to the App folder and delete the iMovie file. Take the iLife 11 disc and run the installation. This will take you back to the 9.0 version of iMovie. Just be careful not the upgrade iMovie when Software Update runs. I've done this and everything seems to be back to normal on the tests I've run. If you don't have iLife 11 disc and your copy of iMovie came on your computer, you will need to figure out another way to go back to the earlier version. But if you do this, at least you will be up and running until Apple releases an update that works! Good luck!

I haven't tried the fix, but I agree that it must be 9.0.1 update. I've got clips that I know were in sync before the update that now play with sound out of sync even in the event browser. It gets progressively worse the longer the clip is. Weird problem -- if I exit imovie then get back in, some will play in sync for a while, but then get worse over time.
