Voltage Question

I will be visiting China soon and I'm wondering if I will need a power adapter. They run on a 220 cycle. An electronic clerk said that Apple products do not need one because they are made to run on 100-240 watts or whatever that number stands for. I'm not that trusting and want to find out for sure so I don't fry my iphone or ipad. I cannot find any information in the product guide.

Please advise.

To clarify the units: the Apple charger will accept 100-240 volts at 50-60 Hertz (formerly cycles per second) frequency. That range covers virtually all alternating current systems in use today.

The charger delivers 5 volts DC and 10 watts of power.

The iPhone charger and iPod charger deliver 5 watts of power.

All you need to have is a plug converter, as Carolyn suggested in the Apple travel kit. Or you can usually buy a plug converter for the country you are visiting, often in their airport.

- I think you are a little confused. There is not commercial power that is 220 cycles. The USA and some other countries uses 60 cycles per second) and other use 50 cycles (per second). I think yu meant 220 volts AC.
- Your statement 100-240 watts is also wrong (as you suggested.l It should be 100-240 volts AC (VAC)
