Adding Content to iPad as Gift for PC Owner

Greetings. Seeking your expert advice regarding an iPad we are gifting to our in-laws. We own a Mac and would like to add pictures, music etc.. to the iPad before presenting to the in-laws for Christmas. However, they own a PC. Will adding content to the iPad from a computer that will not be their primary means for syncing with iTunes affect future syncing on their PC?

Thanks for your advice.

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.3), PC (business)

Should not be a problem. Since you will have to activate the iPad, make sure you give them the iPad's name 🙂

You can add material and they can then connect to their PC and backup and sync. There have been a couple of threads dealing with this during the past month. You can search in the upper right corner.

Be sure and download to the iPad the user guide so they have ready access to all the great information Apple provides on using the iPad.

Pictures won't make it over to another computer either, I would suggest you put on a couple of special songs, pictures, for demo but place the majority of the material on a flash drive and copy it to their computer and it can all be synced from there.

If you need help, head to Roots Coffeehouse in North Richland Hills, lots of iPad users hang out there and they are all friendly and helpful. You can find me at the coffee bar.

Well, there is a way that you could make it work. Work out a way to either a) access their iTunes account, if they already have one, or b) set up an iTunes account for them. In either case it will require a certain level of prior notification to and trust from at least one of your in-laws, as you'll be needing access to a credit card at some point. (My own in-laws were nasty, suspicious types and of course would never have agreed to this .....)

Alternatively, just make helping with the setup and doing this initial loading part of the gift.
